Here you will find answers to some questions we have been asked from time to time.
ARE THERE ANY HIDDEN COSTS? HOW DO YOU FINANCE THE APP?
Since the app is just a hobby of the three of us, we decided to offer the app completely free and ad-free. Therefore, there are no hidden costs (or additional paid content).
In the app we only offer the possibility to donate a small amount. This does not unlock any additional content.
The costs for providing the app and this website are low enough that we can bear them well 🙂
WHY IS THE APP ONLY AVAILABLE FOR IOS?
The main reason that the app is only available for iOS is that it was the next best thing for us to get into programming. When we started, we weren’t familiar with cross-platform programming languages, and we didn’t want to write the app in two languages at the same time; after all, it is ultimately just a hobby.
Our pragmatic reasoning is also that in a larger group, there should certainly be at least one person who has a device running iOS.
WILL THERE BE A VERSION FOR OTHER PLATFORMS?
At some point in the foreseeable future, maybe there will be. The problem with that is that we’ll have to completely rewrite the app again in a different programming language for that (see also previous question). But we have already thought about it and have plans for a new start. Unfortunately, we can’t say anything concrete about it.
DO YOU RECORD DATA WITH THE APP? WHAT DO YOU DO WITH IT?
In our app you have the option to share the data of your games with us (you can find the option in the settings).
In this case, at the beginning and end of your games, the key data (such as the number of players, number of cards, date and time, number of rounds and your card settings) and the (anonymized!) game history are shared with us, so that we can theoretically track your gameplay.
Anonymized means that we do not share the player names used on your device (and not the photos anyway). You can find more information about data protection and the data recorded in the app here.
We collect this data to gather usage statistics and to improve the app (e.g. our assessment of the strength of each map or village) – so we’re super grateful if you share your game data with us!
WHO MADE THIS APP?
We are three good friends that enjoy playing a good game of werewolves ourselves.
Sanne has studied graphic design. She has developed all the amazing artworks of the cards, attributes and more that you can find in the app.
Colin has studied mathematics, informatics and theology. He is one of the two main developers of the app, thinking a lot about data structures and new features.
Fabi has studied physics. He is the other main developer, is responsible for most of the card, card set and rules descriptions and has developed most of the in-game sounds and music.
