Seer’s Apprentice

Goal:
Kill all werewolves. Wakes up in the first night together with the seeress and then sleeps through. Once the seeress has died, he and takes over her ability.

Detailed description

After his curiosity led him to be expelled from the school for divination, the seer’s now spies on the seeress to widen his horizon. In the first night, he wakes up along with her and recognizes her. Before she uses her ability, however, she discovers him and he has to go back to sleep. As soon as the seeress dies, the apprentice breaks in and steals her equipment. From now on he can continue her work and ask for the identity of one person every night.

Variants

1) The apprentice does not get to know who the seeress is.

Hints for the game master and further rules

You should make sure that the two have enough time to recognize each other, and clearly distinguish the phase of recognition from the actual phase of the seeress.

Hints for using this in the app

The seer’s apprentice has his own scene where he and the seeress are called. In this scene, the two awakened players can simply be assigned his card. Afterwards, the seeress is called as usual and one of the two identities can be overwritten with her card.

Hints for you if you’re playing this character

Do not be too conspicuous when protecting the seeress, but pay close attention to her words. Otherwise you quickly appear on the menu for the werewolves!

Interactions

  • Pyromaniac: If the seer’s apprentice is burned the first night, he does not learn who the seeress was and cannot continue her work even if she passes away. If the seeress is burned, the seer’s apprentice still only gets the seeress’ ability when she dies.
  • Opportunist: If the seer’s apprentice is in play, its scene is called again the following night if the seeress is still alive.
  • Actor: We recommend not providing the actor with the identity of the seer’s apprentice. Also, playing with a real seeress instead of an optional seeress is recommended if the seer’s apprentice is in play.
  • Seeress: The seer’s apprentice should not be in a game without the seeress.
  • Yeti: If the seer’s apprentice is frozen in the first night, he will not know who the seeress was until she dies, but will then be able to continue her work.
